Upon arrival we found the check in procedure to be easy and efficient and we parked in the main car park and made our way into the village. We brought our own bikes so did not have to go and hire them, the other couple we were travelling with went and hired the bikes, it was about £35 for two bikes and locks for the week, non refundable but you get to keep the locks.
Our Villa was a 2 bedroom Executive and had a large jacuzzi bath in the main bedroom which we used several times and had a nice patio area leading down to a large lake.
The Subtropical Swimming Paradise is not as large as at Longleat Forest and the Wild Water Rapids are not as good either as they aren't very fast! We found the pool a little disappointing in comparison. The newly built Village Square area is very pleasant with a stream running through it and little bridges going across. The Watersports lake is large and the pedaloes were fun if a little tiring!!
Of the restaurants, we visited Chez Pierre three times and foudn the food excellent but service a little slow. We also ate at the Italian, Luciano's, which was awful and we sent our food back as most of it was practically inedible. This was a real shame as the one at Longleat is fantastic. We also tried Hugo's which was average again.
The shops and cafes are a little bit on the expensive side, for example, two Sprites in Platform 5 (fast food place) cost £3.90!
The forest itself is very pretty and you often see lots of wildlife such as squirrels, ducks and pheasants come right up to your villa, and the atmosphere is very tranquil.
I would recommend it, however would say that so far I think Longleat forest is the winner as it is by far the prettiest village and the food and staff are all excellent.
