By Alsa coach, you would have to change at Alicante and Malaga. Journey times vary between 9 and 10 hours, depending on whether you use day or night services, or weekday or weekend travel. Timetable and fares info HERE.
Train services seem even worse and would probably involve three changes, more HERE.

I`ve just put in a date in Feb and the price has come up 98 Euros.
Sanji could you pass on the names of some of the Spanish Airlines that do internal flights.
Off my head there is....
Spanair...Iberia. ..Futura Airlines...Air Europa... Air-Berlin
There is Air-Madrid, but as the name suggests flights are from Madrid also Vueling flights the new low cost airline.

Hi Sanji .... did you find direct flights Alicante/Malaga ? I thought it would be some odd routing via Madrid or Barcelona. Unless there are direct air services, it may not be much quicker than bus or train when you take account of transfer from Benidorm to Alicante, a couple of hours check-in, perhaps a total flight duration of around 3 hours, followed by time hanging around baggage reclaim, and then finally a transfer to Torremolinos. It may still be a very slow and costly journey.
This has been a good exercise for me, because I have often thought about going to Benidorm and then going on to Malaga.
Like Wiganfrank, there is no way I`m gonna drive down there, and I certainly will not be a passenger next to my other half. ..would have done 10 years ago, but not now
Yes, you are correct, I cannot find any direct flights. ( the Futura site is down at the mo)...the best I got was 3 hours total in time and 80 Euros
16:05 Alicante Madrid, 17:05
18:00 Madrid, Malaga 19:05
3h: 0m
I guess when you think about it, the plane wouldn`t be in the air for much more than half an hour direct...so they must do this shuttle service to make it pay.
Very inconvenient if I say so.

The RAC calculates the journey from Benidorm to Torremolinos to be a total distance of 329.2 miles (529.8 km) with an estimated driving time of 6 hours and 21 minutes. It's certainly a long drive but if correct, that still beats the journey time of the alternative air, rail and coach options.
