Hi Costablanca,
Here is my suggestions.
Best time to go = November or December.
Best place to stay = Arpora.
Best form of transport = Taxi.
This is based on my first visit in 2002.
It is a totally different holiday experience.
Hope you enjoy yourselves when you go.
Look forward to hearing your opinions on Goa.

Best regards

Hi

1) when is the best time to go (we would like to go for 2 maybe 3 months)

The best time to go in my opinion is Jan/Feb. Lovely and warm with plenty to do but when it gets to Mid march/April it gets very humid and very very hot. If i was going for 3 months id go Jan- March ( or if you dont mind being away over xmas then Go december - end of Feb).

2) We are mid 50's not very adventurous and are not too keen on partying, where is the best area to go for food/accommodation/scenery.

The south is the quietest. The north (baga, calangute) tends to have more bars, pubs etc. But theres a resort called candolim which is in the north and that has restaurants but isnt as lively as baga, calangute.
The south tends to be more hotel based although there are a number of restaurants around.

If you are on a budget id suggest the north of Goa, but stay in Candolim as its not as noisy as other resorts in the north. Goa isn't really that big so it wont cost much in a taxi to wherever you want to go.

Hope this helps. Anymore questions feel free to ask them.

Thank you so much. One question I forgot to ask. What sort of accommodation would be best if as I say, we are on a tight budget, but of course want it to be clean and safe. Thanks again.

You might want to try the Pheonix Park in Candolim.

Quiet location and a little cleaner etc than some of the rest but hence not the cheapest option.

I think the Horizon Resort in Calangute is clean and well priced. It was when some friends stayed there last year. It's in the centre of Calangute but just off the main street so a you don't get all the noise.

Personally, I prefer Nov/Dec as it's not too hot and the nights can still be quite cool. There are stacks of really inexpensive (but good) resaurants in Calangute and you're between Candolim and Baga and handy for both.

Again, a personal view, but I think Arpora is a little bit out of the way and you'll incur more taxi fares to travel to the beach and the restaurant areas - although there are a few around Arpora.

Feel free to ask any specific questions as I could prattle on all night!

I think Apora in the north is the nicest place to stay. Just a small village with local shops and a handful of restuarants yet only 5 mins by taxi to Calangute or Baga and a little further to Candolim.

I agree with Roma regarding Arpora. Nice and quiet but you have to use taxis all the time which pushes the cost up, especially over 2-3 months. candolim is my choice.
