It certainly is a shame about the parties now, I dj`d at a party on my first trip to Goa just before the millenium and the vibe was good then, okay there were a few casualties of drugs but I dj in clubs in the UK and have seen pretty much the same things here. Personally the parties are about the music for me as thats how I earn my living, but the last few years in Goa has seen some very sad deaths and accidents due to drugs and I believe it is the minority of people that attend these parties that do indulge, there is no way of getting around that fact that it happens(sadly)

Goldie if you do get a chance to go, do it, even if its only for a few hours early on in the night. Grab a beer sit down on the chai ladies mat and just soak up the atmosphere, Goa is the home of Trance and is unlike anywhere else in the world. Early on in the night you sometimes get groups of drunk Indian males on the dance floor, so stick together as they can be a nuisance to Western ladies, any problems just point them out to the bar owner who will have them thrown out. Another good time is early morning if you wake up early, go and have a cup of tea at one of the chai stalls and chill out, there are no idiots about at that time just the true Hippy trancers and lots of people of all nationalities who are very friendly and will chat away for ages as though your old friends.
It`s well worth seeing so don`t be put off by the sad stories you read, it wont be long before these parties move to other parts of the world forever so you can at least tell your kids that you once went to one of these, I will be taking my 16 year old Son with me one morning so it can`t be all that bad.

P.S. If you don`t want the full on experience try the Shore bar on Anjuna beach after the flea market on a Wednesday, you get fire eaters and jugglers putting on a good show while you relax with a cold beer.

Thanks Feelthevibe.

I think we will probably go to experience it as we've got a few Angel Beach cd's that have lots of Goan music - which I just love!

Your right about the drugs problems being the same club/uk wide - you don't really hear about them in Edinburgh, but we go to a lot of the headline dj nights here and you see some total states! I'll just stay away from the twatted folk and carry on dancing about like a daftie myself! Goa will be enough of a drug for me!!

Would hate to miss out on the chance to experience it when we're actually in Goa - dunno about the grandkids - but it'll def make our friends jealous!

Can I ask what dj name you go buy? Just incase either myself or my boyfriend have heard of you - then we can become your new super cool best mates!! teehee, we're not that sad really!

Thank you again for all the wonderful help and info you have given me!

I've been to the Shore bar every year for the past 5 years and it ghets quieter each year, to the extent it was empty last year. Have you been at the end of March and it's busy?

Feelthevibe - thanks very much for the useful info about the full moon parties etc. My boyfriend and i are off to Goa on Saturday for the first time - we chose Goa because we both love trance and thought it time to visit it's home! Deffo hoping to catch some parties whilst there

Goldilocks,

Trance timetable:

Watch the sunset from Curlies (South Anjuna Beach) and chill out until 8:00 - Great atmosphere here for trance heads and psyche freaks

Nine Bar (Little Vagator) until 10:00

Trance Party, if there is one until the next morning..not many happening now and as Feel the Vibe said, if they do happen it will be further north. Like I said in my earlier post, the parties around new year were at Kerim beach up north

Enjoy your trip
