Don't be fooled by the prices shown on http://www.cheapestflight.co.uk We booked 4 tickets on Thursday online £159. email confirmation said pending, when we queried it, were told its something to do with the plane. (?) Still no confirmation, but have been advised that flights have gone up since we booked 3 days ago and now cost £189. Quite a clever scam to sit on the paperwork for 3 days, and of course all the other companies have also put up prices in the meantime, as seats are running out.
Beware
Also about this company, I booked 1 ticket on a flight costing about £180 then 10 mins later I had a call from cheapestflights to say they had not added the taxes of £40!!!
In the end it would have been cheaper to book flights direct with the airline as there price was £188, but decided to save the £8 and book with them, big mistake!
Yours,
Brad
to add insult to injury.... my daughters boyfriend decided he wants to come with us, so i rang Cheapestflights today to book an extra ticket, they said they were sold out.
So I went on http://www.h4u.co.uk who cheapestflights were selling the flight on behalf of, booked a ticket, didn't get charged a credit card fee, only had to pay £50 deposit instead of whole lot and had instant confirmation. We only got written confirmation this afternoon from cheapestflights for tickets booked 3 days ago!
So after all that, the h4u flight which was £185 only ended up being £5.00 more when you take off the credit card charge ( although still £26 more than the print off I have from when I booked online with worstflights.co.uk!
keep the stories coming, I'm onto trading standards tomorrow, don't want others to go through this hassle.
I shall also be informing h4u as they may need to review who sells tickets for them !
I was raging with them last week too as they charged me a credit card fee for using a Visa debit card, tried to make out that they get charged by the banks as its more like a visa card than a switch card. I told them where to shove it!
I was caught out with this firm too. After booking they e-mailed me to wait for confirmation before organising the rest of my holiday, 4 hours they quoted. No e-mail all afternoon .The following day I phoned them twice asking for confirmation. Each time there was an excuse as to why I couldn't speak to the person dealing with my booking. When I finally got to speak to some-one the flight had increased by £30. I said I'd leave it and the phone was slammed down on me. What a way to run a business.
I used them last year to book BA flights to Gran Canaria and found them OK. Mind you, I booked with BA direct this year and they were over £100 cheaper!
They are part of the co-op group.
Fron now I always look on their site for the flight details then book direct with the airline- and always cheaper than cheapestflights!
Yours,
Brad
Seems like standard practise -I booked a flight with them last year - they called me about an hour later to say it had went up £30 - I told them didnt want it anymore - After referral to a supervisor they agreed they could give it to me at the original price
after almost 2 weeks after putting in a complaint to cheapestflights........ nothing, not even a confirmation of receiving my email.
Gives time to collect more peoples experiences !!
Keep the stories coming, I'm glad its not just me, but am definitely on my soapbox and don't want others to go through the same.
They are still advertising the flight today, 12 days after telling me it was full......
How about screendumping the web pages offering the misleading and unavailable price - then a quick call to Trading Standards to log a complaint.
http://www.cheapflights.co.uk who are not a travel agents or operator but rather a price comparison site. As such they do not sell flights or holidays themselves but when you click on a deal you are linked to an travel agent or operator who will be the company you will have booked with.
I'm a bit confused by this as the link provided (does not work by the way) links to Thought you checked your deal with them and then went on to book with whichever of their advertisers deal suited your needs best.
Think this is the web site
This happens with other flight sales companies... last year i booked with Phillias Fogg agreed a price ,only to be phoned 10 mins later to say the ticket price had gone up by £55 . i told them in that case i did not want it... took me almost 2 weeks and many calls to get my money back..
Cheapestflights actually sell tickets, they get an allocation from various companies to sell.
Cheapflights is a comparison site.
they have several on line sites (Sundeals, Travelcare and many more )...and they offer good flight prices when you key in your dates on line.........
but whenever I've rung the flights have ALWAYS 'just gone up'...incredible coincidences when I'm booking usually over 12 months in advance, and this happens EVERY TIME !!!!
....and then they continue to advertise these cheap flights for MONTHS afterward even though their screen always say that prices have last been checked earlier that day.
GRRRRRRR...this dodgy kind of practice just makes my blood boil
