Having been to Goa last year I am returning next week and had a couple of questions.
Firslty, myself and my partner are big coffee drinkers (sadly addicted to the stuff). Does anyone know anywhere in Candolim where decent filter coffee etc is served.
Also, this time I am making my own way to the hotel (Valentines Retreat). What should I expect to pay for a taxi and will there be a lot of bartering involved!!
Thanks for any help

Taxi from the airport; straight ahead out of arrivals to the Official government taxi rank. All the prices are set, listed and reasonable. I think it will be about 500/600 ruppees to Calungute.
More or less opposite the Victor exotica but it is only open from 10.00 till 19.00 so is no good for evenings . Its nice and cool sitting in the small garden there with a iced tea and cake or coffee and brownie.

The deli at the Akron Arcade does one of the best cappacinos i have ever tasted. I like my coffee hot anf it stays hot for ages in that climate. It is very busy during the day with the long stayers meeting friends. Well woth a visit!
As the above says the Akron arcade does do a nice coffee, but the servicee on my last 2 visits were so abysmal, I almost lost the will to live whilst waiting for a coffee, and there were only a few people in there at the time.
have to agree with Del949 chocolattie do the best espresso that side of Italy, their chocolate and cookies are to die for, pity it don't stop open later as well, its the perfect sitting to end a night with a drink of hot frothy chocolate.
Cheers for all the info guys. I'll make sure to put it to good use!!!!
We also like good coffee.
The Cinabar in Acron arcade does good strong Ameicano at 45rps, plus usual other varieties.
There is a small cafe express stall in Sinquerim,(1 mile from Candolim) on the road on right hand side just past Taj entrance, Americano is 17rps.
Found this to be ideal after eating in Sweet Chilly on the way back to Candolim.
In Panjim a large coffee house (again Cafe Express) oppsite Reebok shop just off waterfront. They have huge range & food. (starbuck type).
Casa Manolita in Candolim do good coffee after a meal (back of Dom Fransisco).
Most places are a bit of a lottery for coffee, but you can get your fix.

My mother in law owns an apartment at Valentine's Retreat and we always pay around 500/600 rupees for a taxi from the airport
getting a taxi from the airport is a fixed price deal.
Just outside the exit is a booking office where you pay for your taxi and are given a receipt which you give to the taxi driver.
cost 3 weeks ago was 590 rps to candolim
