the hilton waterfalls is supposed to be a very good hotel. its a fair way out of naama bay...so if you want the night life it will mean a taxi into town each night.....but the reef here is great...we stayed at the renaissance hotel next door.access to the reef though is by a jetty...and can be pretty scarey at first if you are not a confident swimmer.
we are actually going back in november and have chosen to stay at the sonesta beach hotel...its received mixed reviews...but we will be able to walk into town each night which i think i prefer and i can get into the water straight from the beach. the reef is not as good but its not that bad either.
sorry dont know anything about the crown plaza

hilton is a taxi ride to Naama - but near other hotels. Hilton is more luxurious.
Sonesta is 30 mins stroll into Naama.. rooms are nice.. food good, have stayed there.
Don't know the other one....

Thanks guys - have booked the Hilton Waterfalls - got a v good deal on it! I know its a little way out but we stayed in the same area when we visited last year so we are pretty aware of the taxis and how much to pay!
Good choice
the Waterfalls is great wish we could afford it this year but we are actually looking at AI types as we won't have much in the way of spending power

Am staying on the soensta club this year and booked mainly because of location. When you stayed in the Sonesta Beach Perfume did you venture over to the Sonesta Club and if so what was it like. It does not look that great in the brochure and the reviews are mixed.
stef. we atayed at the sonesta club xmas 2004. it was our first time in sharm...and we loved the place. the hotel was great. we had a room on the second floor which was very big and had everything in it we needed. our balcony looked out over the siani mountains. the food was the usual buffet sort but we walked into town nearly every evening along the promenade path across the road at the sonesta beach hotel.
the gym at the hotel wasn't much to write home about but the pool was good and we never had any trouble getting a sunbed. the staff were always helpful and a friendly bunch. it is however a very italian based hotel..and we seemed to be the only english family there!!
we've since returned to sharm and will be going again in november staying at the sonesta beach hotel. we chose this hotel because of its location and the fact that it has easy access to the beach.

Thanks for that. You have put my mind at rest a bit. Roll on July. I know it's going to be very hot but due to work commitments can't go at any other time.
