We returned from a seven week stay in Calangute on the 7th March The weather up here in Scotland was dire , including one Sunday when we were virtually snowed in My wife, half jokingly said see if you cant dig up a last minute deal. As our visa ran out on 3rd April it had to be for only seven days. I found a deal flying with Monarch for the princley sum of £199 all in price,We booked on the Monday night got the paperwork through on the Wed. and flew out on the Thurs. from Manchester. We landed at 5.25 a.m. and were out and in our taxi by 5.45 a.m. , a record for us. We were on the sunbed by 8.15 am and spent 7 days doing nothing, the temp. was great, the humidity not bad, and best of all the crowds had dwindled and consequently so had the sellers and the beggers On thursday I walked from Calangute to the ship and at the quietest bit of the beach there was nobody about, just like it used to be 15 years ago when we first visited. I costed the holiday as £280 each, that included all meals, drinks (soft), accomodation, taxi to and from the airport and tips So yes if you just want a quick break in the sun and can get a good price I would say it's well worth it and Goa looks great with a lot of the crowds gone. If the chance arose again we'd certainly repeat the exercise Monarch flew in to Goa ahead of schedule and on the return leg with strong headwinds it was only 30 min. behind it's arrival time so no complaints there either Alan
