We visited Fuerteventura last year and my 5 year old son got salmonella. I have now been complaining to the tour operator for over a year but feel as if I have got nowhere. After constantly chasing them I got a letter in May denying liability and offering £100 as a gesture of goodwill. After my response they still denied liability but increased they offer to £200. I have still not accepted this and I am in the course of preparing my next letter. They had an epidemiology report done due to the number of cases of gastroenteritis during our stay (they had this done during our stay but it took them 10 months to send me a copy). I have also received a copy of a audit which was carried out at the hotel which does not make very good reading and shows that hygiene levels at the complex were less than standard.
At the moment I feel that they totally ignore the contents of my letters and just write what they want to say and avoid any questions which I ask.
I have kept in touch with 2 families who also stayed at this complex and whose children were also ill and again they have got nowhere. I think that I am the only one out the three of us who has been offered compensation as I have the medical evidence to back it up.
Any suggestions as to what to do next will be gratefully received
Many Thanks
