Hi
We fly with first choice on the 18 May to Lazarote,we are going with our so,partner and or 9 months old grandson,we booked a seat for the grandson, using a car seat and wonder if anybody as any knowledge on a good lightweight car seat that we can buy for this purpose,or have done the same and can give us any info at all.
Thank you

IThe Britax Freeway can be used with lap belt only.
It's on a a special in Mothercare stores at £59.99 at the moment - a decent no frills seat that's easy to fit - most others need a lap & diagonal belt which of course can't be used on a plane.
Hope that helps.

Call your airline, and they will advise what kind of seat are permitted onboard. Most airlines insist on forward facing, five point harness, rigid construction.

We had to buy a Britax Eclipse especially to fit on a plane seat as it is one of the narrowist. It fit fine on an Easyjet plane, loads of room to spare.
It must be one that can use with just a lap strap also, as that is how it is secured on the plane seat.

Hi - me again. Katy is correct you can use a Britax Eclipse SI car seat with a lap belt only too so this would be another possibility for you.
I'd say from weight and size point of view tho' that the Freeway would be your better option - I'm a car seat fitter for Mothercare and weighing everything up I would personally recommend the Freeway for aircraft travel.

Yes a Freeway would be better as it is cheaper and if it is lighter that is great

The Eclipse was a pain to lug about everywhere

Tell me about it Katy I have to carry them out to cars for fittings

The Renaissance also allows a lap belt but that's even heavier than the Eclipse.
Not sure about any of the Maxi Cosi range - to be honest it's VERY rare we get anyone wanting to fit a seat in the middle anymore and most new cars have the lap & diagonal.
