Am I right in thinking
Milan is the place to be? as we want to be close to the town, restaurants, shopping and most importantly bars and nightclubs. 
Anybody been to Italy and know which place to go???
We want to go to Italy for a short break. But we're not sure which area is the best to go.

Milan is wonderful. City centre has loads to offer. Duomo area has loads of shops and of course the Cathederal which is well worth a visit. "Brera" area has fab restaurants and bars. The closest metrostation is Lanza, green line. From there it's a 5 minutes walk to Brera. You can also go, 10-15 minutes, from the Duomo. of course you can also vist San Siro, home of AC Milan's football ground. Check out this link.
