Certainly are a lot of wasps, but somehow they are not aggresive. I am certainly apprehensive when one gets near me, but after a couple of days I was not so aware of them. I have been to Hanioti sevaral times and the wasps were my only gripe, but hey, its not something anyone can help with. My sister would die of fright if she was there, as she has a phobia about wasps, so unless you are as scared as that, then dont let them worry you.

Anyone else had problems with the wasps? I wouldnt mind so much if they didnt sting! Would insect repellant keep them away??

Jungle Formula do 'Wasp away' but how effective it is I don't know.

Can't say I noticed much of a problem. We stayed in Polychrono (next resort to Hanioti) and most of the time if weren't out and about we stayed by the pool at our apartments and never had any trouble with insects. We saw the odd one in tavernas but no more than you might see in the UK during summer. However, the one day we did we go on the beach at Polychrono and while it wasn't too much of a problem whilst sunbathing, we were hounded whilst trying to eat our lunch, so much so my hubby gave up and put his in the bin. I think they were attracted to the beach as they were able to find left over food in the bins.

I did get stung one day whilst out cycling but I think that was more because it was just scared as it got stuck in my helmet
