I felt exactly the same as you in April/May last year. If you read my comments in July after I returned, thats as honest as I could be. San Anton is not a luxury hotel. It is clean and efficient though. I had no issues with it at all.
I did notice that most of the people who did complain had holidayed in the low season so maybe there is not as much attention to detail/service during these periods. I hope you have an excellent holiday and that your fears are unfounded.

We spent two weeks in the San Anton a few years ago. After reading all the horror stories about the hotel we were not looking forward to it at all. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised. I thought the restaurant was excellent and we wished we'd gone AI. Don't be put off, I'm sure you'll have a great holiday.
