Have used Centauro at Malaga 3 times now and have always been happy with the car . We go two weeks time to Mallorca and I have booked with them direct via the web - hope it is not a long wait though. Think the longest I waited at Malaga was 45 mins - but that was high season Sat afternoon. A couple of weeks ago when we went we were the only people at the desk. It is always the luck of the draw with these things.

Booked a car through Holiday autos in Feb to pick up at Malaga airport(9 pm at night).On arrival all other car hire desks had zero to a max of 4 people waiting at them,Not my car hire company, there must have been about at least thirty people waiting.After about half an hour two people had completed their contracts.I decided to catch a taxi instead even though I had paid in advance.Now I stick to Record car rental if possible.
I did fill out Holiday Autos customer satisfaction? that they e-mailed me,detailing my dissatisfaction but I have not recieved a reply.

Have used Record cars 3 times this year, the last two times there have been 2 hour queues at the desk. It seems to take 10 -15 mins to process each client, even if you have booked and supplied all required details over the internet. Very frustrating and will probably try a different supplier next month.

We have just returned from Majorca and used Carjet who in turn use Europacar/Goldcar or Centauro in Palma airport.

There were only 3 people in the Goldcar queue in front of us and it took the best part of an hour before we got our car. It took about 10 minutes to process our booking - the people in front of us took ages. It did seem to be very slow and this was a Wednesday afternoon - not the busiest time in the airport. Even though all the information about you is held by Carjet somehow everything has to be processed by the company when you get there. Also be warned there is a 59 euro petrol charge (return empty) for the group we had (fiesta) we returned the car with over half a tank of petrol - our fault I know but it was so warm we didn't really want to spend all the time in the car!

We have used Netto Car hire before - the second time all the paperwork had been filled out because they had kept all the details. A representative from Netto meets you and escorts you to your car in the airport. They are slightly more expensive and the cars are not quite as good as the bigger companies but you only pay for the petrol that you use - the car usually comes with about half a tank and you just leave it at the end with the same.

I would be most interested if anyone has any recommendations of other 'smaller companies' similar to Netto.

Thanks for replying everybody. Think its proberly hit n miss with all the companys. Will prepare myself for the worst and hope for the best. Land at midday so worst case senario will be at our villa by about 4.00.
