Can someone steer us in the right direction?
We are hoping to do a big shopping spree as we arrive!
Thanks
Me and my family always go to Kokkinos in Paralimini as our first shop...its so much cheaper than the resort supermarkets...we catch a bus to Paralimini town and then walk to the supermarket fill a trolley with essentials...water, juice, beer and pop etc and then call a taxi back...it is a big supermarket where the locals do their shopping. We spend a fortune but then we don't need to do anything anymore shopping for the rest of our hols apart from milk etc.

Orphanides Supermarket in Paralimni next to the Church is another easy to get and good cheap store too. The bus stop stops right outside the door in both directions
Thanks..... do i take it this is where the locals from napa use?
If you do do thr taxi thing, try these
I dont do a lot of shopping when i'm there and so far have always used Orphanides.
Im now hearing that there is a cheaper supermarket in Protaras now! if so can anyone confirm where please? is this where the locals use i wonder?
Following many, many visits to both Orphanides & Kokkinos I can tell you that yes these are where the locals shop, the prices are cheaper as they're not "tourist" supermarkets.
However you will have to work out for yourself that you would really need to bus/taxi to both from Protaras, so once you've factored the travel costs in it might well be more cost effective to just buy locally instead. Unless of course you're already going to hire a car in which case it doesn't matter.
The advantages though is the choice of product available, both Orphanides & Kokkinos have a wide range of products and are both pretty big establishments.
I'm not sure which "cheaper" supermarket in Protaras you refer to though
If you are going to rely on a big shopping spree for all your essentials then the big 2 have got to be your best buy locally.......as their are bigger places outside the resorts a little like C&C's
Heatwave... just found this...
Hi Heatwave, for 80cents you can get the bus into Paralimni and for about 4-5 CYP you can get a taxi back. If you note that it is about 23cents for 1.5 litres of water in Kokkinos and about 50 to 60 cents in Ayia Napa for the same. When we used to get a bus and then a taxi we found that the money you saved on a weeks water and juice payed for the cab. Our place is near to Kokkinos and it is about 30% Brits passing through the doors due to value for money. Not to mention the large bottles of KEO for 67cents and litre cartons of house white for less than 1cyp.
