well Nicola - I am going to Saigon next month. I think you avoid summer but I may be wrong. We would also be look at October as a good month.
I visited Saigon in October 2003 and it poured with rain almost everyday.
meant to say we were looking at Hanoi in October
you will love it there.i would definately like,to go again.
my sister is returning again,in about 6 weeks,so she may,see a difference in the weather,to what we had in the oct.i think we went in 02.
tracy
we went to vietnam dec 2004 for 3 weeks.we stayed in saigon for 3 nights.hoi an 2 nights, cambodia 5 nights and mui ne to relax on the beach before spending our last night in saigon.the weather was fantastic.we are going back this christmas for 3 weeks and spending some time on phu quoc island.the best time to visit is winter in the south and summer in the north.
We are thinking of going to Vietnam in Sep/Oct this year.
I was thinking that 2 nights in Hanoi, 1 Saigon, 4 Phan Tiet and then 2 nights stopover in Singapore.
Which travel agent would be the best for this?
Do we need any vaccinations for Vietnam? Last year we were in Malaysia so we had HepA vaccination.
recommended immunisations for Vietnam are Hep A, typhoid and malaria. Re best way to book- we did Hong Kong, Saigon and Bkk DIY. Are you set on Singapore? It would be cheaper to do the stopovers in Bangkok or hong Kong, but of course you may not want that!
I was first thinking about having stopover in Hong Kong but when I started looking at prices of plane tickets it came cheaper via Singapore.
I was mainly worried about if something goes wrong that travel companies would help. I was thinking about contacting Trailfinder but I don't know anybody who use them.
Trailfinder has been used by a few members here and I have heard no bad reports! I'm surprised Singapore came out as cheaper than Hong Kong. It is great for a stopover.
The dates I was looking at it came to £ 1400 for two people via Hong Kong, via Singapore £ 1000.00
have to say I prefer Singapore anyway! And at £400 cheaper - theres no contest!
Fiona, I have a question: when you go to restaurant in Vietnam, do they give you chopsticks or do the have forks?
chopsticks! I even managed soup with chopsticks by the last day!
Well, it looks that I will loose some weight then, because I am completely useless with chopstick!
I found one travelagent who does 12 day Vietnam tour so I think that we will go with them. It would be our first trip in Vietnam so I thought that it might be better to have somebody with us who can show us the main sights.
