Just returned home after a brillliant week in Turunc. The weather was HOT HOT HOT. Unfortunately we had a delay of about 7 hours at Stansted airport on our way out and then again on our return journey we were stuck at Dalaman for a horiffic 8 hours!!! I don't think I want to travel Excel Airways for a long time.
We hired a car one day and drove to Datca. Quite a long journey through the mountains but some terific scenery. At one point you can see where te Aegean sea meets the Mediteranean sea. The road was very twisty and windy and not suitable for the faint hearted but the trip was well worth it for the fantastic views. At one point a whole army of goats crossed the road in front of us and it reminded me of Gene's picture (hope you are enjoying yourself in Icmeler!)
Visited Icmeler by Dolmus and said hello to all our friends at The Chill Bar. We were made to fell so welcome and it was great to catch up on all the news. We didn't see Mr Toohey on this occasion unfortunately as he had returned to the UK??????
Turunc itself was fairly quiet but all of the bars were open. The beach was good and there were plenty of sun beds available.
Only another 5 weeks and we are back again thank goodness.

your flights sound terrible! glad the rest seems ok! i flew with excel airways and there were no problems with them infact they were quite comfortable! more leg room than most other flights i have been on and you get an in flight meal even if you didnt pay for one which yeah they are crap but still!! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
OMG that just sounds like hell on earth!stuck at Dalaman for a horiffic 8 hours
Glad to hear the rest of your holiday was lovely, sounds like you had a fab time

CHRISTABEL...hope i have better luck with the flight times,i'm off on the 16th to TURUNC..we were due to fly from Stansted but have been bumped off to Gatwick (much better flight times though).. 8 hour delay both ways for you, what a dreadful start and end to your holiday,at least you say the weather was good... hope it still is when i'm there.. also good that you say its not too busy... are the council still charging for the sun beds & parasols on the beach as they introduced this charge last year much to the anger of the beach resaurant owners who provided them for free to their customers ???...
hi christine, im also flying with xl so i'll keep my fingers crossed for no delays, hows turunc whats new whats gone, has someone took over the jazz bar? im not there till july and cant wait.........tracy
As for changes Tracy in Turunc we are still relatively new to the area so are not sure what's new and what's not!! I do know that Rays Bar is now an Irish Bar and called The Purple Bar and seemed very popular. I saw no signs of The Dreamboys so have no idea where they are going to be.
There are loads and loads of new builds everywhere though. We spent a lot of time in the Green Garden - their Chicken Casserole is out of this world
Christine
glad to hear you had a good time despite the awful flight delays. I'm off back to Akyaka on Monday and had thought about visiting Datca. What did you think of Datca once you got there? and how long did the drive take you?
Fionay....the drive to Datca took about 1 1/2 hours each way but well worth it just for the views. Datca itself was nice but I do prefer Turunc and Icmeler. The sea was lovely though with no stones to hobble over! There's a big Migros there if anyone needs to stock up!
So is the beach at Datca quite sandy?
Not sandy in as "golden sandy"..... similar to Icmeler and Turunc sand really.
Note for moderators - should this thread be amalgamated with the Turunc Bay thread?
