Does anyone know the present rate for changing Sterling TQ's in Crete?
I am going on Friday and don't know whether to take cash or TQ's.
Not every bank would do exchange.
Personally I would not take cash. If it is lost or stolen then that is it. Travellers cheques will be replaced very quickly.
fwh
personally i would do the following. 1/3 in cash so as i have ready made cash for when i arrive. 1/3 in cheques in sterling and 1/3 in Euro. that way u can ''save'' a bit of money in case sterling goes down or up, and also u have money for the first day.
all banks do exchange and the tourism offices. most banks have a flat commission and it varies to the offices.
enjoy ur holidays and try to relax. thats what its for. u should stress more about the holidays. just enjoy them
Just got back from Stalis - some of the shops are offering 1.43 on the exchange of cash. Yes, I know you should take Travellers cheques, but after having been stung on commission here and then changing them abroad ( yes even with euro trav. cheq) I know take debit cards and cash with me ( and hire a safe deposit box)
Thanks for the help, I've decided on 500 €'s, £500 Tq's and I'll use the plastic for the rest.
