defiantly not all in. to many good places to eat and drink other than in your hotel. hotels in goa are in two classes the basic but clean hotels and the top of the range hotels witch are manly all in. the second option, i would not take as these hotels are so expensive and are geared up to you not leaving them, spending all your time at the hotel is not the thing to be done in goa, this you could do in any 5* spanish all in. hotel, with just a 2hr flight. read the hotel reviews get yourself a nice central location and go out and see what goa has to offer, and the money you save put towards another trip to goa

Without a doubt this would be my choice - but may be biased as we have stayed in Taj hotels all over India and are our favourites.
The Fort Aguada used to be our first choice in Goa until this was opened and we stayed overnight last season - since we have retired we have to stay self catering but indulge ourselves now and again.
If I had to chose my really - really - really favourite it would be the Taj in Mumbai - the old building not the new.

thanks both - I'll have a look at these . Does anyone recommend DIY for Goa as on my first look through the websites it seems that the cost of a package seems very reasonable when compared to flight + hotel tariffs ??

If you look in the right places you can get a package holiday to Goa for about £300, well you could last year. Some people don't use the hotel, and book into another hotel on arrival.
This is because you can get a package holiday for the same price as flight only to Goa.
I suggest booking a package holiday from teletext or getting a late deal, and then booking into another hotel, if you want a special hotel.
Hope this helps :)

If you want to go to South Goa - I would recommend the Leela. It is 5* and you will feel thoroughly pampered and if you let them know it's your birthday they will arrange something for you - on our 25th wedding anniversary they left us a delicious cake and some flowers in our room. The rooms are lovely and it's a great hotel. Whatever you do - have a great time - life begins at 50!

Thanks :)
I saw late deals on Firstchoice's website, think it was for November/December, but was pretty sure i saw some in March/April.

Hope you have luck in finding some, thats what im planning to do this November.

Failing that, i paid £400 per person for 2 weeks in April, found that deal on teletext, and booked 2months in advance. I think the companys called Holidaysplease.
