My partner and myself went two years ago and stayed at Hotel Mediterraneo (although I understand this hotel has gone a bit downhill since) and we had a fantastic time! Champions bar is good for a drink in the day - but it is right at the top of the main shopping street (not the beach end).
Murphys was always a good place to end the night. They did a fantastic coffee every morning, the resident "bookie" was there for the sport in the afternoon, and there was usually live music every night plus the usual competitions - we won 60 Euros on our last night!
Drinks were really cheap, most places had happy hours and if you are there while the world cup is on - a lot of pubs offered pints for 1 Euro for the duration of the games.
You will find the usual fast food everywhere, again, we found it really cheap!
