Hi there everyone.
Am off to Protaras on the 25th June (20 sleeps). Am looking for nice places to eat. We are staying at the Sweet Memories apartments, myself, hubby, 3 boys 15,8 + 3. Hubby likes to try different things where as me me and the kids are more fussy. Not looking for pizza hut, mcdonalds nor KFC.
We usually stay in Ayia Napa but opted for Protaras this year. On a day visit to Protaras we would have eaten in Hippocampus (don't know if its still there).
Also how far is Pernera from Sweet Memories. Can you walk? Are there any nice places anyone recommends there.
Thanks
Lisa
Returned from Protaras today (or rather Pernera) as we were in Marlita Beach.... you can walk it, takes about 20 ish minutes Id guess, but it is only CYP£4 each way in a taxi ~
We ate lots of times at the Anatolia restaurant which is on the top main road heading towards Pernera, the food was excellent, the service was wonderful and great value too, we were always made to feel very welcome, and never had a bad meal there at all.
We also ate at Nicholas Tavern, which again was lovely and is down on the main strip. We did go to the mandarin chinese down towards MacD's for a change and the food was great there too....
Blue Spice in Pernera was also lovely, but still Anatolia won our vote for all round meals the only not so good meal that we had was in Ayia Napa, but also had some great snack lunches/breakfasts in Cheers Pub too ~ great value BIG portions, and definitely good value for money!
Am sure you wont have a problem finding some great places Enjoy!
To be honest you can't lose in Protaras - never had a bad meal. Have a meze - but only if you're very very hungry!
agree with karen the anatolia is excellent eat there at least 50% of time also it's just up from where you are staying, will walk past it going to protaras strip only 5 mins away
Another vote for the Anatolia - not far from your apartments. In Pernera the Blue Spice is excellent....
Thank you all for the recommendations..have written the places on a peice of paper to take with me..
If anyone knows what the Sweet Memories looks like and how far it is from Fig Tree Bay. Have read the reviews on here and all seem ok just curiosity really.
Thanks
Lisa
Hi Welshmumsy - I went for a look around the Sweet Memories as it was close to the villa I stayed in a couple of weeks ago and I liked the look of it. Seemed to be plenty going on in the evenings there - lots of laughing and singing! It's a fair hike from Fig Tree Bay as it is at the opposite end of the resort but you are still not far from the beach where you are - on the main road to Pernera.
Sweet Memories are on the top road heading from Protaras to Pernera. If you turn right out of the apts. and walk along a bit towards the Hotel Artemis there is a path which leads you down into Pernera. When you come to the Paschalia you can either turn right which takes you down to the Marlita area(Blue spice restaurant is down there) or head straight on into the main part of Pernera. There are some good retaurants there,my favourites are Cordon Blue and Noufaro.Steak and Ale is pretty good as well. Can also recommend Anatolia like most other people have. It's always heaving but the service is pretty quick and you need to know your order as the waiter doesn't like to hang about.Probably here and Noufaro are the best places for value with their set menus.Andama opposite the Vrissiana and Promises are pretty good as well.I've also heard the Raj(Indian) just along from Sweet memories is good.Too many to choose from really!!
Another vote for the Astoria - the guy trying to entice you into the restaurant is an absolute charmer, his patter is hilarious. You will not be disappointed in the food, we went on the recommendation of our taxi driver and it lived up to it's billing.

if you wish to eat traditional Greek Cypriot food.
Also good place to eat is No 1 Restaurant in the centre of Protaras (between Sunrise and Silver Sands).
