Hi kutz :D

For day time I'd recommend a jeep safari up the Troodos..........the scenery

and views are spectacular :D

Night time I'm not too sure about as I've not been to that end........sorry :(

we went on the jeep safari last week and it was nice to get away from the resort and out into the island, I HATE cliff roads lol so for me it was a bit hair raising lol but it was a good day, for ALL ages ~

Nighttime....we didnt come across any arranged excursions for night, apart from one which was an 18-30 type trip into Ayia Napa....so sorry I cant help there....

Hi Kutz

There's lots of bars/restaurants in Protaras and a couple of clubs, but also Ayia Napa is just a short hop away on the bus or taxi and there's loads to do there. Didn't do any excursions at night whilst last over there (well apart from a reps night out one year which I would NEVER do again with any company), found plenty to do in resort.

Why bother with rip-off excursions when renting a car (Cyprus drive on the left :D ) is the far better option. Every time we go I rent a car in advance arranging to collect and drop-off at the airport. Upon returning to the airport for the journey home, we always book in as soon as the desk opens, then get back in the car and drive to a small bar on the beach at the end of Larnaca run-way. From here we sit and relax till we see the plane land, then its full speed back to the airport. :P

As for trips, take the car and drive towards Pathos, stopping for a while at Kollosi castle, then to Currium, and St Apollo (if you like ancient places).
One of the nicest beaches around is located at the foot of Currium cliffs (Currium beach), frequented by Service personell and locals only. As such the local bars offer great food and drink at "local" prices.

Really wasn't impressed with the jeep safari offered through tour reps!
CYP£37 and that didn't include food which was extra as well as the camel ride. All that covered was driver and petrol. A very BIG dissappointment and rip off (IMHO) :x

CJS1973 - can I ask which tour op you went through? This was one of the trips I was planning on doing when in Cyprus next week. I guess most of them will be the same though.

Thanks

Hi Kcutting............if you look through the subjects on page one in the Cyprus forum there's a current thread on about currency in fact there's 2. Cardiff Lad recommends a chemist in Protaras for the best rates, plus others have advised on other specific places with good rates.

Do not book trips with tour reps.

Visit one of the many travel agents in town who will give you a better deal, you will also get a local guide who knows the area.

Car hire is another alternative. Try Windmill Car Hire (near Vrissiana Beach Hotel) for good prices. Also good for money exchange.
