                8 km = 5 miles

so you need to divide the km by 8, then multiply by 5 to get miles
(easier than dividing by 1.609344 if you haven't got a calculator to hand)
so 6/8 = 0.75 ( I can't find a divide sign!)
0.75 x 5 = 3.75 miles.
if you are in a UK car abroad, you can use your speedometer as a conversion chart
for example you will see that the 50mph and 80kph are lined up!
And trasjohno....you are a long way from the resort centre, aren't you?

trasjohnso - are you by any chance going to stay in Mahdia? All the hotels there are usually stated as being 6 km away from the resort, but it is not as bad as it seems! Won't go into more detail, as it may be another resort altogether!!

Think back to the 100 meter track at school, now imagine walking up and down it's length 60 times, Thats 6km!
I think it'd take Linford 10 minutes at top speed!

1km is exactly 1000metres. Amazing that this country adopted the metric system in the 1970s (when I was at school) and despite buying our petrol in litres our spuds in kilograms and our garden decking in millimetres we still insist on using imperial measures! No wonder our kids are confused!
