With most travel companies charging £40 fuel supplement, 15 ticket on departure £20 resort transfer and £10 for in flight meals per person, about £85 in total before you even do anything, it was with some apprehension that I booked a last minute deal with Holidays 4 U, going to Club Aladdin in Armutalan for 1 week from Glasgow for £119 in total. Good value for money??????????

A slight hicup at Glasgow airport, they did not have our tickets, we had only booked 3 days before flying. Sorted out eventually and got on the Onur air flight, a very new Airbus A300. Food was OK but free soft drinks.
Plenty of reps from Holidays 4 U at airport, a slight hicup on our bus however which was sorted after 20 minutes. Holidays 4 U rep was good on bus gave lots of useful info and not too pushy on the trips that were available, to save everyone from going to welcome meeting.

Arrived at CLUB ALADDIN in Marmaris, Armutalan area at 20.00 and got shown to studio. At 20.02 I had to speak to the manager to get moved. I have been to Turkey about 8 timesnow and thought I knew what to expect from a 2 star studio, but nothing prepared me for this. Damp musty smell from room tatty furniture filthy tables and chairs. Fair paly he did move us to a 1 bed apartment at no charge. 3 other couples arriving at same time also requested and got a change to an apartment

Apartment was better but still not great, 2 broken chairs dirty tables dated furniture and not the cleanest room ever. Beds were good as was the bed linen. During the week towels only changed once and they were like sandpaper, aprtment was cleaned but not that well.

On the plus side, the apartments were not that busy, only about 10 apartments from 30 in use. We had the pool to ourselves every morning, not a towel in site on the sunbeds, pool was large plenty of sunbeds. The location of the apartments was good near club Happy Days and at night the area was quiet, no noise really after midnight

Marmaris was fairly quiet and as rsult the prices in the restaurants and bars wer superb. Many reaturants doing deals, pitta bread a starter and main course of any chicken dish, ice cream all fro 14 TL, steak option was around 18TL. Portions were large and quality excellent. Beer was around 3.5 TL soft drinks the same and spirits local around 6 TL. There was no more hassle than usual, treat it as part of the fun on holiday, a polite no or stop and have a word, after all they have to make a living.

Went to Icmeler, we had been there last year and again during the day the resort looked very quiet. Restauarnt owners said business was down probably about 40%. Went to our favourite cafe for lunch, CAFE ANNE right on the beach. Brilliant service, great prices and a lovely view. Their fresh tomato soup at 3.5 TL and chicken kebab also at 3.5 TL are more than enough for the biggest appetites. Soft drinks are only 2TL, the cheapest I found on holiday and their gateaux are delicious

In summary £119 for a week from Glasgow was it worth it. A few minor issues but you get what you pay for. Well worth the money and with the exchange rate being so good typically 2.95 to £1, Turkey has never been such good value. I was on this forum last year saying that the prices were well up on previous years therefore not such great value, but this year what a difference

I had never heard of Holidays 4 U until I booked this holiday, they seem to have a lot of aprtments in Armutalan and I would definately use them again.
