Hi I have done Cala Ratjana (Saturday) market loads of times and it is definitely geared to tourists, but CR is mainly a German resort, but most traders can speak English. There are handbag, shoe and leather stalls galore (negotiate with the stall holders!), fruit and veg at the top end and gifty type ones too. There is also Peruvian nose flute music to serenade you. Plenty of space between the stalls and lots of bars etc in the square and towards the harbour for refreshment. Sorry but haven't done the Son Servera one.

Hi Tis

We did the Cala Ratjada market four years ago. We never actually bought anything at the market, you really do need to barter and I just cannot do that  . We went on the local bus and came back on the boat. Cala Ratjada is a really pretty resort, I don't think you'll prefer it to Cala Millor/Bona but it is a pleasant day out!

Thanks Pat & Tippi

We might give it a go - I was thinking about going by boat - more for the kids than for me as I think they'd love that.

I'm quite good at bartering now - I did it all the time in Tenerife

We did Son Severa a few years back when we stayed in Cala Millor. We walked (it's about a mile and a half). When we were there it was a mixture of traditional stuff (live chickens, meat, huge piles of garlic etc) and a few stalls for tourists (table cloths, T shirts etc).

Sa Coma has a Wednesday evening market, a mixture of tourist and local goods , only small and starts about 5.30 if i'm not mistaken. We like to have a browse then go for a meal usually 'Midweek Roast '@ Brittania pub .

Thanks Hi-De-Hi & Calabonagirl

Might try the Sa Coma one - so long as it's not like the one advertised in a Tenerife tourist guide "Small market outside of Hotel Blah Blah" - we went and there was the grand sum of 5 stalls :(

It is only a small market about 25 stalls but very varied,(tourist things, food , sweets, toys, tablecloths, bags, even someone doing massages) We like it because its cooler in the evening rather than during the heat of the day.
