In short - October will be fine. November cools off somewhat but is still quite nice. It starts to get rather cooler in the evenings in these months.
Things will generally be open until the latter part of October and then some places close down. There are a number of places that do stay open though. It will certainly be quieter in later october and in november.
Cyprus has some sandy beaches and some rocky beaches, it depends where you go.
basically it depends which part of the island you go to. Paphos and Limassol in the west are all year round destinations, but the Ayia Napa and Protaras side in the east mostly closes down at the end of October. Paphos is the best place to go if you like sightseeing and don't mind rocky beaches. The eastern side has lovely sandy beaches but not so much in the way of ruins and mountains. We have been several times in October and the weather has always been pretty good, although windy at times.Hope this helps.
As bellavista said the west side of the island tends to be open all year round.
The past two winters Nov/Dec when I was over we had really nice weather
and I came back with a tan We had a couple of windy days and the odd
thunderstorm but very pleasant indeed for that time of year. Paphos and
Limassol were both open and certainly had their fair share of visitors

HI we were in nappa the 3rd and 4th wk in oct last year and the weather is hot during the day but chilly in the evening (chilly not cold). The beches in nappa and protaras are nice and sandy,A lot of the shops close the same time as the clock goes back, I am sure you will be ok in oct,.B Sully
