Rob has just let us know that we are going to Egypt for the first time to Taba on 9th December so he can go diving for a week with his diving club.. me and the boy (aged14) are not divers and i just wondered what there was for me and him to do while we are there.
Thanks in advance for all replies
No shortage of things to do Val. There are excursions to Cairo, St Catherines Monastery, The coloured canyon, quad biking, camel riding and more. You can pop over into Israel to see the dolphins or take a day trip to Petra in Jordan. The Dead Sea and Jerusalem are also within easy reach.
The snorkelling at the Taba hotels is excellent and most of them offer daytime entertainment for adults and kids alike. Just make sure that Rob leaves you his wallet when he's off diving!!!!

we are quite looking forward to going, especially as it is an extra holiday we weren't expecting..i think i would really like to have a trip to israel, can you organise this through the hotel or do you just turn up somewhere?
Your tour operator will probably offer you trips to Israel etc. Failing that, i'm sure that there will be someone at The Hyatt who will be able to arrange for you. It is a very popular trip and not to be missed when you are "so close"!
Thanks carrot2502. I also think we would like snorkelling even though i am not that brilliant a swimmer. Rob says the sea there is the best in the world to dive in.
I am more interested in the historical side of things. how long does it take to get to Jerusalem?
oh man i am getting excited now and it is not until December 11th!!!!

A lot depends on how long it takes to cross the border into Israel. It can be busy with quite a wait at peak times. Can't see december being too bad though. Which tour operator is your holiday booked with, then there may be someone on the forum who has done that trip with them.
The snorkelling is brilliant in The Red Sea and the water is so bouyant with its high salt content that even weak swimmers can go for ages!
