I went a couple of years ago and found Skiathos very expensive - if you ate in the British quarter and up the steps on the front. Some of the smaller tavernas on the back streets it was € 12 for 2, with a starfter. At some of the bigger places it cot more than that for one.
It's all down to what you want and where you want to eat. On the steps it was €14 for 2 small bottles of Mythos and 2 cokes. On the back streets it was €6.

It's definitely more expensive than Zakynthos, Rhodes or Crete, but a luvverly place to chill.

Hi we have just returned from Skiathos and the prices are not as cheap as a few years ago, but we didn't find it too bad & this was our 3rd time going!! Starters if you want one are usually 3 - 4 euro, main meals approx 8 euro, half carafe wine 4 - 5 euro. We drank Mythos (Greek lager) and was 2.50 euro for small bottle and 3 - 3.50 euro for large, though it does vary where you drink. Cocktails are between 7 - 9 euros. If you go to the beach and want a sunbed it cost 8 euro for 2 beds and brolley. The boat trips to skopelos and Alloynisoss were 25 euros and 35 euro if you wanted to include the marine park and lunch. Round the island trips on the boats were 15 euro. If you catch the bus from skiathos town to koukanaries it is 1.40 euro each way. You can always take your cashpoint card to use in ATMs for emergencys! It is a lovely place, plenty of beaches to choose from and a bustling Skiathos town for nightlife. It was just starting to get very busy when we left, but I wish i was still there!! We will probably be going back again next year. Have a lovely holiday, I'm sure you will! cheers Jan[/list]

We went to the Marine park on the Kassandra this year, and as Janbabe said it was €35. It was very good, we saw a number of dolphins between Skopolos and Allonisos, went up to the old town on Allonisos, the Marine Park, and Skopolos town.

Not many dolphins in the Marine park, and as the boats no longer go to visit the monastry on Panayia no opportunity to see any monk seals. Its a long day but great to return into Skiathos as the sun sets over the island with the music, dancing on the foredeck and the ouzo flowing ...

Round the island we also went to Arkos, Tsougria, on the blue boat with Yannis for €15 and it was very good, buy your own lunch at the taverna.

The beach bar on Arkos, is sublime with great chill out music ...

Enjoy ...
