Hi everyone
I've been an avid reader of this website for a while, but this is my first post.
I am getting married on 26th August and then flying to Olu Deniz very early in the morning from East Midlands Airport on Monday 28th August. We're staying at the Asena Beach Hotel, after reading great reviews.
Has anyone got any tips on places to visit, good shops and romantic restaurants, hotel quirkiness or anything else useful? Thank you so much for all your help.
Meredith
probably the most romantic restaurant is the white dolphin me and my boyfriend got engaged there you can phone from your hotel and book a seat for to watch the sunset absolutely beautiful
Hi Heather
It is worth getting on a Dolmus and going to Fethiye, the market is amazing and if you go away from the fronts into the bazaars it is really good, plenty of shops and the like.
If you like fish then the fish market is well worth a visit and you can sit at a table, the waiter will them go buy your fish and have it cooked for you, so fresh and very tasty.
GG
Thank you so much for that. I love fish and will definitely have a wander to Fethiye - the shops etc sound great. We're getting married 6 weeks on Saturday and we fly to Dalaman Airport 6 weeks on Monday - I can't wait.
I'm finding out so much about Olu Deniz and the surrounding area - hopefully we'll feel like we know it when we get there.
Thank you again

i got married in olu deniz last summer so had sort of had my honeymoon there too (although i did go to prague when we got back as so many people were with us in olu ), its such a lovely place, we loved to go to suara beach in the day, as we were staying in lykia world we didnt go to a lot of places as it was so nice there and there was so many of us, i know you will have a lovely time
Thank you for your reply - whereabouts is Suara Beach please? I checked out lots of information on Olu Deniz before we booked and it looks like we've made the right decision. Everyone sounds so friendly, we probably won't want to come home!

PS. - Whoops - seem to have managed to do this one twice!!
its in the lagoon and they do free mini bus transfers to your hotel and back, lovely sandy beach with fantastic views, a bar and restaurant too, its only about 15 mins walk but in the heat can be too much, ive posted some photos in the gallery of it have a look.
Hi Meredith, to explain a bit further about the beaches - there is the main Belcekiz beach which is stony & a steep drop into the sea. You can walk along the seafront ( to the right) & pay to go into the lagoon area where you have a choice of the main beach or the lagoon beach. However, the lagoon beach there is jam packed with sun loungers & the water is very shallow. Not really suitable for swimming. We found the best option was to walk along the front towards the lagoon, then instead of going to the pay booth, take the main road behind it. This takes you down to various beaches at the back of the lagoon which are lovely.Soft sand, no shelving, clear water & not TOO far to walk out to swim. It is all the same beach but different people have their cafes & sun beds on each part e.g Suara Beach, Bobs Beach, St Nicholas etc. If you start walking a dolmus normally comes along & picks you up & takes you to 'their' beach & they will give you a card with the phone no so you can ring the next time to be collected from your Hotel. We preferred Bobs beach as they did not have set times to take you back in the afternoon. Whenever you were ready, you were taken to your hotel. They also did what I thought was the best coffee in Olu Deniz. Big mug on a saucer with 2 biccies for 2.5 YTL. If you are going to be on your honeymoon can I suggest the daytrip to Tlos & Saklikent gorge. It is very pretty & relaxing. The lunch at the Yakapark is lovely, lots of little waterfalls & places to doss out on cushions. Have a lovely time.
Thank you for your reply, we will definitely look into a trip to Tlos & Saklikent gorge - I love waterfalls so this one sounds like it could become my favourite! Thank you for the tip about the beaches - we both like swimming so will be giving Bob's beach a try.
Six weeks today and we'll be Mr & Mrs Jarvis and in Turkey too - it doesn't get any better than that - apart from a winning lottery ticket too, perhaps!
Thank you again
Meredith
