Hi, and welcome

I can't think of anywhere in Gozo you can stay and walk to a beach, apart from Marsalforn and Xlendi. There is nothing near to Ramla (and long may it stay like that !). I don't know of any villas in or near Marsalforn or Xlendi, so I'm really struggling to think of anywhere that fits what you want !

I think you will need to compromise on something - maybe stay in a self catering apartment rather than a villa, or hire a car, otherwise I don't think its possible

Hi guys
Thanks so much for that.
We stayed in Xhagra last year and while I loved it, the heat was deadening and I figured if we stayed nearer the sea..then the sea breeze would save me.
However, I was pregnant at the time and it was June/July...very hot.
Please tell me that September is more comfortable?
...and I won't be pregnant!!

Ok, here is what we intend to do..we are travelling with another family this year and we are thinking of hotelling it? (we would be happy to villa again but I am not sure it would be wise for all of us to live together for more than two days!)
One of the hotels suggested is the Grand in Mgarr harbour.
Is this a good choice or not?
The hotel seems fine and I think it would suit us (two babies and one toddler who only needs a playground really and maybe a bit of sand some days).
What is there to do in Mgarr?
We never did much there last year only got on and off the ferry.
Is there eateries etc?
The Mommies in the party would like to be able to wander off every now and then for a break you see..and our ideal would be within walking distance of hotel, if that makes sense.

Many thanks for any information.

yes September should be cooler, and the sea warmer.

I think The Grand is a great hotel, but a long way from any beach. Mgarr has great restaurants, but with children maybe Calypso Hotel at Marsalforn or St Patricks at Xlendi, so near a beach, would be better

You could try a villa at, for example, Sannat (Zabetta Farmhouse is nice) & drive over the hill to Xlendi. It's a short drive, but quite spectacular. Last time I was there, my hat blew off in the open topped jeep. My granddaughter caught it & still tells me about it........8 years on.

Hi tobi,

We would be interested in property that's handy for our favourite Ramla beach on Gozo. We are visiting Malta during August but would consider staying at the Cornucopia Hotel Xhagra in future times, which seems to be about as near to Ramla as you can get. I do agree with Mark's sentiments about it remaining remote since besides other things it's one of the reasons we like to go there!

We Stayed at the Grand Hotel Last year on our and it was Fantastic. There are no beaches nearby but we paddled off the rocks near the harbour.

The Grand run a bus approx twice a week to Ramla bay and they do other trips I think these are free or if not they are v cheap.

Plenty of Restuarants around Mgarr. Not sure if there would be a lot for young children Malasform, would probably be better.
