Hi all,
Hope someone can help with a few questions about the above hotel.
I and a party of 14 others (inc kids) have been moved from the Pegasus World Hotel to the Grand Kaptan hotel in Alanya for a two week holiday in April 2005. According to First Choice this was for a number of reasons.
As we were all inclusive at Pegasus World we have been given all inclusive at this hotel. Firstly, what is the all inclusive like at this hotel, alcohol and food wise? We have heard rave reviews about Pegasus World but would like to ensure that this hotel has the same good name.
Secondly our letter from the travel agents says that we will all be staying in the annexe of the hotel. Does anyone have any idea what this is like? Obviously with having our friends kids with us I would like to ensure that it is at least half decent. I have stayed in an "annexe" before and it left a lot to be desired!
Also, any comments or reviews on this hotel would be welcomed. Our party consists of ages around 27-30 years of age with 2 or 3 kids thrown in to keep the adults in line!
I look forward to hearing any of your comments. Please send me a PM if anyone would like to get in touch.
Thanks in advance.
Regards
Lee

thanks for your email regarding this hotel. my email to you got returned for some reason. it says its a permanent error. anyway i will copy and paste the email to you here:
hi,
thanks for your email about the grand kaptan hotel. we are also going in april. did you book it when there was obviously a mistake in the price on the travel agents computers? my girlfriend's friend works in a travel agents and she rang her to tell her about this deal as it was so cheap. it had to be a mistake didn't it. we told our friends about it as well so thats how there is such a big group of us going. we all got it for £254 each for two weeks all inclusive.
thanks for the website, i will be having a look at that today. i can't imagine it being too bad as it is classed as a 5 star hotel. as you say, if its not up to a good standard then there will be trouble. we shouldn't be penalised because the tour operator made a mistake should we. =20 if you hear any more on this hotel then i'd be grateful if you'd let me know. i will also do the same for you.
kind regards
lee evans
I stayed on a Half Board basis, but the food was ok. It's mainly turkish and german cuisine, but they do have some english food. It was very nice!
The entertainment is reasonably good, but only watched it once, so can't really comment on it!
Hotel itself is very clean, lovely marble floors, and staff are very helpful! There are 2 pools, sauna, turkish bath etc, and it has it's own little private part of the beach.
thanks a lot xzibit. you've made me feel a little bit better about taking such a large party to this hotel.
bewarned you will need to either catch a dolmus or taxi to the centre, it's about a 30-45min walk. maybe more.
The hotel run a complimentry bus every hour into town and back from about 9am till 12 midnight.
Grand Kaptan Hotel, Alanya. ( dep man 15th May 7 days half board 470 for 2 pax.) Prob wont use the half board available as like to go out and eat local as much as possible but, still thought was a good buy.
Anyone have any info on it ???
Thanks !!
its a great hotel, well known with super facilities. its in outside of Alanya but there are ok places nearby and the dolmus takes 5 minutes to town for 750 kuruş (750.000.tl in old money)
Looking for something similar for next year and have found a good deal with First Choice for Grand Kaptan in Alanya, we've never been to this resort/area so would welcome any comments. Reviews seem mixed with a lot of people saying that the resort/hotel is more in favour of German/Dutch tourists - not that I've got anything against them!!
We like a fairly laid back holiday without music blaring around the pool and no open air disco's booming away till 3.00 a.m., prefer a bustling harbour with restaurants and a few bars - and as long as there's plenty to keep our kids amused (10 and 12) then we're happy.
Is this the place for us? Would welcome any comments. Thanks.

The tourist in Alanya are mostly dutch and german, there are only around 7 hotels for engligsh tour operators in the resort. Most english tourists to turkey tend to go to Bodrum or Marmaris.
The harbour is where most of the action is at night time, there are several open air clubs which are open untill around 3.00 am and numerous bars.
In my opinion Alanya is more for the younger crowd, i advised a friend of mine whos in her late 30s to visit there this year and she didnt like it, she thought it was too young and clubby.
Hope this help, if you want to ask anything else feel free.

the Grand Kaptan is well known and gets mixed reviews...mostly good ones though. its outside of alanya in oba..about 3 kilometres to the centre.
as cute lil mami says the harbour is the area with most of the night life but there are quieter areas.
The best place for a special meal is in one of the restaurants on the castle hill overlooking the med...super(The Hisar is a good one)
Alanya is dominated by a huge sprawling castle on the peninsula fantastic views
on the water line there is an ancient Selcuk Turk boatyard..where they used to build the galleons
if you like history there are several unexcavated ancient greek cities in the hills above Mahmutla/Alanya. (Laertes and Seydra)
if you want to take the kids dancing there are large music/dance bars along the east beach...they cater for young and old and families.
for kids there is a choice of aquaparks..one in the centre of town.
there are boat tours, bowling, mini golf a modern cinema with latest films in english a lovely little museum set in a garden over run with rabbits!!
a day trip to the world famous roman theatre of Aspendos is a must...fantastic acousitics, perfect condition.about 85 kilometres from alanya.
Take the kids white water rafting in Kopru Kanyon.
No holiday here would be complete with out a day on the Dimcay river where there are numerous restaurants with tree houses, water chutes tarzan ropes, diving bridges etc..cool clear water. the food is cheap and fresh you can laze all day in a hammock or on a special raft on the water
in the mountains above alanya there are timeless villages and you can find places with tandoor ovens for a special meal...there is also a replica cadir (nomads tent) with camels and donkeys
Alanya is home to a large expat mixed community... people come here to retire or to buy holiday homes in increasing numbers.
there are people here from all over europe..if all you want to see on holiday is other british people then the aegean region is more suitable
can anybody tell me the difference between the rooms in main building and the annex
