Thanks, had looked there already but can't seem to find anything on the boat trip out of PP...?

The boats go from the marina in the centre of town. Do you mean a trip to Playa Formentor or out to the cape ? The former means you get off at the beach and can swim/fish etc. The latter is simply a trip out and around the cape then back.
The beach trip boats leave at 10am and 11am (later than that I am not sure) and boats return from around 3pm onwards, or you can return to PP by bus at 3:15pm (not on a Sunday). The round trip cost last year around 8 Euros, or 1/2 that for a single if you plan to come back by bus for around 1 Euro. The boat & bus is nice as you get the best of the coastal and mountain views. You get boat tickets from the hut just by the beach at the marina entrance. Bus tickets on the bus.
Go early as the beach gets very busy after mid-day.

Yes they are still running to Formentor and Cala San Vicente great trips.
