Sorry for posting this here but I don't know where else to post.
we are trying to find somewhere to go for July 2007.
We usually go to Greece - which we love because hotels and appartments tend to be smaller scale, there are lots of smaller resorts with relatively quiet and greek nightlife, authentic local cuisine and there is lots of self catering accomodation.
next year we're think of going somewhere different - maybe spain or portugal but none of the brochures seem to have any smaller quieter resorts, or they don't have sleve catering or B&B.
Can anyone suggest either a resort that might suit us, or a tour operator that specialises in low cost, holidays away from the major resorts in the med?
hi to you ..zebedee... have a look at the costa de luz area it might just suit you ....regards.john-doe.....
Thomsons used to have a brochure called 'small and friendly". Not particularly suggesting that you book with them, but I thought you might be able to look through the brochure and perhaps get some ideas of smaller resorts and accommodations.
Take a look at the western Algarve.Small villages such as Budens and Salema are still largely untouched by high volume tourism and still offer the peace and authenticity you seem to be seeking.
It is simplicity itself to organise a d.i.y. holiday to the Algarve, and, this way, you are not restricted to the tourist resorts.
Have you tried James Villa's. They do lots of individual villas in Spain and portugal. You could also check on Thomson website to see if they still do Small and Friendly.
Arenal d'en castell in menorca is small and quiet.
