A Thalli is a flat cooking dish, havn't been to plaintain leaf, so I don't know what it entails,
A "Thali" is a dish of assorted curries with chapatis or puris (a bit like Tapas). The items in the "Thali" are from a pre-set menu, normally they come with 3 vegetarian curries, atleast two types of lintils (one is normally called Sambar and the other Rasam), some pickles (like mango or lemon), curds (yoghurt), Boiled Rice and sometimes a fruit. This would be a typical south Indian thali - but thalis change in their taste and curries based on the region. In Jaipur, state of Rajhasthan, you could go to Chowki Dhani and get atleast 40 to 50 items in a Rajhasthani thali. There is a South Indian restaurant on the left side just before the steps to the Calangute beach where you get Thalis and south indian breakfast dishes like Dosa, Idli and some Udipi stuff like Uttappa etc. Yummy.... I will be there end of October......can't wait....
re Rob's monsoon photos- they are no longer available on his website.
