They are about a 10 minute walk from the twin towers. Menara tower looks very close to both but the driveway is a long winding road with a bit of a hill from the entrance to the property so I would always recommend a taxi.

There are 2 hotels I know of right at the twin towers Mandarin oriental (TCH are charging around £38 per person per nite at the moment) but is supposed to be one of the best in KL, and just across the park is Traders which has just opened (in July) and is part of the Shangri La group so should be ok

check out the map here

Which unfortunately does not have Traders but it is on the edge of the park at the twin towers

The Mandarin Oriental would be my choice...great pool area...right next to Petronas Towers and a short taxi ride to the Menara Tower...you could even walk it but the hill to the Menara is quite steep (I know we did it).

The park in front of the Petronas Towers has a some play areas including water based ones.

Weather in December not sure, but in Jan when we've visited the day can start off beautiful but by mid afternoon the humidity levels have built up and there were often thunderstorms. One of the most humid cities I've visited.

All the coaches go from the central bus station downtown it always is very hot and crowded but the some of the caches are very nice (better than the uk) and very cheap.

They are supposed to be building a new bus station but I think it has not been built yet.

The renaisance and concorde have been around for a while so unless they have been recently been refurbished they will be looking old and tired compared to the others (actually the Shangri La is a bit closer than the hotels mentioned to KL Tower but it is still a bit of a hike up the hill to get in).

If it was me I think I would choose Mandarin Oriental or Traders as the first I have never seen a bad review of, and the second hotel as is it new and is very close to KLCC (but not as close as MO) where as the renaisance and concorde are like the Shangri La just on the roadside with a small walk to anything.

A taxi ride to the KL Towers from any of the hotels would only cost about £2.
