New bangkok ariport Q

HI

Could anyone tell me how far the new airport is from Bangkok, and how far is it from Pattaya.

Planning a two centre holiday and planned to return to BK for one final night before we fly home, however, advised that the new airport is closer to Pattaya so we are better off flying directly from pattaya...any thoughts, and when is it scheduled to open ?

The new airport is on the east of Bkk and right next to the motroway which links Bangkok - Pattaya. Around 30 minutes drive from the airport to Bkk city hotels (same distance as the current airport.) It's under 90 minutes drive, at sensible speeds, along the motorway to Pattaya.

The motorway is also being widened so in a year or two they'll be 4 lanes in each direction between Bkk & Pattaya
