Hi Kaz

The weather will be very hot in January so you'll certainly get plenty of sunshine.

I am 26 and have been going to Candolim for the past 3 years with my fiance and we absolutely love it.

If you want somewhere very lively Calangute is the place to go, Candolim is a bit quieter but there are some good restaurants etc, shops and the beach is fab.

Hi Kaz,
Welcome to the Goa Forum....you'll get loads of replies on here I'm sure.
I would go for Calangute/Baga in the North, it's the ideal place for your requirements, loads of lively bars and a great stretch of beach to chill, relax and people watch. You get a great mix of people in this area, people from all walks of life of all different ages.

Lots of Hotels to choose from - Goan Hotels are very basic but are (mostly) always clean and the staff will go out of their way to make your stay a great one. Have a look at the following - do some research and post your questions on here - you'll be inundated with replies!!

HOTELS:
Colonia Santa Maria (CSM)
Aldeia Belo
Ronil
Senhor Angelo
Horizon
Mira
Silla Goa

Good Luck and have Fun !!!

Your best bet is when you have a spare couple of hours spend that time on this website looking at previous posts and you will find all your questions answered. There are numerous threads on here giving you all the info you have requested.

Look towards the top of this page and there is a sticky entitled VISA Questions and Answers and will tell you everything you need to know.

As for the locals - they are the friendliest people ever.

The reason so many of us on this sight go back year after year is because Goa has something special that you can't quite put your finger on, although the first few days of your first trip you may not initially agree. Just relax and enjoy yourself and you will have a great time and I can almost guarantee you will go back.

Myself and partner are in our 30's and we stay in Candolim as is a bit quieter than the hustle and bustle of Calangute which is a short and cheap taxi ride away.

Cheers
Sian
