We have spent Christmas and New Year in Tenerife for the last 18 years - wouldn't have it any other way. However, Christmas Eve is important for Canarians - more than for we Brits - and therefore lots of restaurants close early (8 ish) so that the owners and staff can spend time with families. Similarly, taxis are few and far between, consequently those who are working charge the earth. Therefore, either book somewhere you know will be open (so that you can get a table) OR go to one of the many ethnic restaurants which do tend to stay open on Christmas Eve. A crowd of us do a Chinese on Christmas Eve for this reason - walking distance from where we stay. Fantastic!!

Other than Christmas Eve, you won't have a problem until 6th Jan (Three Kings) when again Canarians want to be at home.

Hope this helps.
