i havent been to calis beach myself but my mother has and hated it and put us off, i wont go into details as i dont want to upset any calis lovers,

she lives in turkey and likes icmeler and loves olu deniz , might be a good idea to read up throughly on calis itself

ive been to icmeler and olu deniz several times and love them both, 2 other places i like are cesme and akyaka ,have a look at them too, akayka is gorgeous although fairly quiet but what a beautiful scenic place

Hi Barb, i've booked to go to the Mutlu next year as the reviews were excellent. I can't find any bad reviews about Calis beach and I always do my research on resorts. I know Club E is also a good property. The only negative comment I know is that perhaps it's a bit too quiet, but that's what we prefer. Each to their own I suppose.

Ellie Meg, Thanks for that, I spoke to a Thomspn trvel agent who has a property in Calis, she loves Olu but could not afford a place here so plumped for Calis. She said it was quiet but there was plenty of bars around. We went for a day trip to Akyaka this June and really liked it.

Lawrence, thanks for your views, yes I do not mind laid back places too, it is just that we do like Icmeler and know our way around but just feel that I want a change. Did consider Northern Cyprus but the long travelling time puts me off, also it is quite expensive.

We went to Kalkan a few years back and stayed in The Meldi Hotel which was lovely but the location is very hilly and not sure I can manage the uphill walk back these days.

I have got prices for Calis from Thomson and First Choice and Thompsons are heaper so far. Still undecided.

we used to go to Calis each year but stopped when so many Brits bought prpoerty there and changed the character of the place. Its very good for being able to visit other places and had some great restaurants.
As far as the hotels mentioned, there are two "Mutlus" one of them on the beach is good with decent sized clean rooms, not sure about the other.
The golden moon was nice when we looked around it about 4 years ago, but I thought that you may get a lot of mossies as it is so near the canal but I could be wrong.

Must admit we saw it from a boat trip round fethyie harbour, we were told by our guide it was chalis beach. Sorry, but from the boat it was the uglyist view we saw during the whole fortnight in Turkey. Obviously we were not that close up, but from a distance it just looked like a load of ill thought through mismatched buildings, along a not too inviting stretch of straight beach.

Hopefully close up it looks better. :)

Oh dear looks like I will have to start again!

What about Bitez?

Icmeler was our first holiday in Turkey and we loved it but find it is getting louder. We used to go to The Venice Barb when it as Manalays but found it is too noisy now.

Thanks everyone.

Hi BarbH
Sorry  But it's probably better that you know. From a distance it looked like someone had gone a bit mad with a load of concrete. (I hope it was Chalis beach and i'm not putting you off and its somewhere different. )

Have you been to Olu Deniz? It's still quite lively with bars and restaurants, and there are lots of Brits about, but it's in a pretty setting and has retained its charm despite being a resort. It's quite flat.

Merhaba Barb,

In our humble opinion"¦ you CAN'T go wrong with Bitez! :D

We were lucky enough to be there for 3 weeks in July, and at 8pm we are flying out for another week.

It's such a beautiful bay, with fabulous restaurants and a laid back atmosphere.

I'd say the only "negative" point about Bitez is entering the sea. It can be a bit rocky underfoot, so it's best to pack a pair of jellies.

I think if you ask anyone on this forum, have they had a bad holiday in Bitez, it will give you your answer.

If you have any questions or queries, just shout

See you in a week :wave

I have to say BarbH, I went to Icmeler this year and found it to be really 'Chavvy' ok it wasn't full of clubbers or aggressive drunks but there were some very choice people there (plenty of football shirts overhanging guts and tattoos, the men were just as bad :? ). I have to say as well that Icmeler beach was dirty with lots of litter in the water. The year before we went to Olu Deniz which was fantastic and sedate. You should be led by what you feel. I researched Calis on 4 different review websites and was happy to book with the information i read. The hotel Mutlu has a website if you want the address.
In this day and age any resort is going to have an element of 'choice brit's' but as long as there are'nt masses of them as you would find in the bigger areas then it would suit me. If you want the addresses of other review sites then let me know.

Thanks again for the replies.

I have been to Olu twice, Belcekiz Beach and Olu Deniz Resort Hotel, both lovely but both AI and I wanted to eat out of a night as I get fed up with hotel food after a while. I have always fancied Montana Pine but the other half says it is too isolated.

I am going to Icmeler again on Monday the first time in Octover and also first time to The Devamli, We are going with a couple of friends who have always been to Greece, It is not that I am fed up with Icmeler, just fancy a change in a similar resort that is not yet been spoilt.

Bitez - what accommodation is recommended. I normally go in hotels that are near the beach.

I will have more time to look when we get back. Will give a review on The Devamli, was in The Munimar this year but found it not my cup of tea.

If its any help I was in the Belcekiz Beach this summer and on a trip we lunched with a chap who was staying at the Montana Pine and he couldn't speak highly enough of the hotel. Thought it was fab. (I quite fancied it myself from what he was saying, the setting is lovely)

Although it was between the two resorts it did have its own permanent taxi rank.

I agree with you about the Montana Pine, we dropped people off there and I really liked the look of it, They also have a private boat or, they did which looked very nice.

Going back to next years holiday, still confused....

chris from what my mother has said about calis i think it was calis you saw from your boat trip,

barb i would avoid that area if i were you, it doesnt sound nice, ive not been to bitez yet but ive heard good reports about it , i know everyone likes different things, but if you like pretty places and not too noisey then i would avoid calis, mam said it was a mini blackpool type place. i would try bitez im tempted to try that myself one day. im going to letoonia in a week that looks fab ill do a report once im back

Barb H ,

can't go wrong with Bitez if you like decent people and respectful surroundings.
We have stayed at the Okaliptus hotel for the last two years, straight on the beach with hammocks , swings and loungers scattered around the frontage.
3 star bed and b, rooms clean and fairly spacious, a/c.
bar fairly expensive for drinks and the pool isn't up to much but otherwise a good choice .
Very easy to get to other local resorts from Bitez via dolmus into Bodrum
would be going back next yesar ourselves but we felt that a change was due

Thanks to everyone that took the time to reply. There is a lot to take in at the moment, so will have to leave it all until the 9th October. Must get on with the packing and let my husband back on the computer. :D
