altinkum is just below bodrum on the map of turkey. the transfer time from bodrum airport is about an hour. altinkum means 'golden sands' which sums up the resort. there are three main beach areas but other smaller beaches in the resort.
the sea is superb. blue and clear and it is shallow for quite a length, ideal for children. the resort is lively. restaurants and bars line the bay but if you want a quiet day just go to one of the numerous beaches where there are only the odd eating place. most eating places will pick you up and take you back to your hotel and if you have a drink in the bar where these beaches are they do the same.
the resort is twenty mins walk away from the old town of didim. there is a boulevard all the way up and it is starting to look brilliant. the eating places on the way up and also in the town are cheaper than on the front of the resort. the turkish food is superb
there is a water park close by and historical trips are plentiful. i would recommend it. we have been going for the last three years and have bought property there.

Hi

The hotel is on Third Beach. Its a great hotel with lots of stuff to do for the kids.

The food is quite good - its all inclusive so you can eat drink and be merry without having to get your wallet out.

There is a Dolmus stop outside the hotel and for 1 lira you can be in town in about 3 mins.

The area is quite compared to the hustle and bustle of the town - so its perfect to be able to leave it behind and chill at the pool.

Happy holidays!

you'll be pleased that you're close to 3rd beach - it's much nicer than the main beach in Altinkum.
Be sure to get a few cards from the restaurants, as lots of them will come and pick you up and give you a lift for free if you eat with them. On 3rd beach, there are 2 restaurants who operate mini buses - if you have a drink with them, they will take you into town or wherever when you're ready to go, for free.

A restaurant which is worth a visit is the apollon restaurant, over looking the temple. there are 2 there with similar names, the one I mean is next to a bakery - (says ekmek <bread> on a sign, I think.) it's set back a bit and is a bit blink and you'll miss it... doesn't look much from the outside, but you get to go upstairs on the roof terrace and eat your meal overlooking the temple and watching the sunset. It's lovely. They will pick you up / drop you off too. If you like fish, have been told by people who live there that the fresh fish there is the best in the area - I am not a fish lover, but everyone else seems to like it!

Also, if you fancy fish n chips one night (!), go to elaines chippy, not far from dolphin square and the taxi rank, by an estate agent called crescent homes. nicest ever! normally, I don't go for chips on holiday as I can get that any time...and certainly not fish as I hate it - but this is gorgeous!

Have a lovely time, Altinkum is great (I bought there recently) and there's something for everyone, you won't be disappointed!
