I agree with jayjay about the Royal Orchid restaurant. We have just come back from Albufeira, we were there for a week. If you like Thai food, you MUST try the Royal Orchid!! The food there is absolutely well worth the visit, especially the red and green thai chicken curries. The restaurant itself is gorgeous and the service great too. The Royal Orchid is so good that we went there to eat 3 times in one week!

Tried the resturants in Guia...these were our favourites, especially the Ideal.

Quite disappointed with The Royal Orchid...our most expensive meal of the holiday and could only class it as moderate. Still it was a change from Portuguese which we ate the rest the holiday. Still enjoyed the Singha, a nice change from the Portuguese beers.

I enjoy chicken piri piri on the markets at Albufeira or Quarteira for lunch, love watchin the world go by while eating off paper table clothes, paper plates, big plate of chicken, bread & olives, Crystal beer in plastic cups. finger lickin good. Likes slummin it occasionally. Not been to Guia for Piri Piri for years but remember enjoying it when we did. Cheers Jayjan

Just back from Albufeira in the old town I would like to thank all the people who recommended restaurants. We enjoyed most of them.

Louisiana was very good.
O Tunnells - Excellent
Dom Carlos - Different, 5 small courses, it was excellent.

Anna's in the old town, we did not enjoy. We both thought the food was bland and there wasn't many people in there.

Mary-Anns on the strip was excellent. The steak was so tender.

Cabana Fresca on Fishermans Beach was packed every night. Food was presented lovely but not a lot to eat for the price.

We thought the same about the fishermans beach, nice food but not really much, if your looking for a very good restuarant in old Albufeira try El Veliero (Somewhere along those lines) down one of the little roads, very nice food and really cheap.
