Google have a web site called Google Earth. Sattelite Photos of our planet.
Load it to your PC (Free). Then you can see your favorite hotel etc.
The River Princess looks great, Seen Lucia's and Josephs guest house as well as Lin B's Prem Vas House.
Look before you go.
Yes I did this a while ago and saw the hotel that we are going to in Feb. It is amazing but i feel as though I have cheated amyself as I want to leave some discovering to the imagination-nice to look after eh!!!!
On Google Earth you can do a thing called a flight, so I often go from our house to baga - it's an amazing program -well worth a look and mind boggleing. I tried to post a link to download the program last year and I got barred from this forum, thanfully I was allowed back on - thanks admin!
just a word of caution here- never post any photos from Google earth on HT. There are strict copyright issues with it. But its certainly a great programme- I have been all over the world with it
Thanks Spottiswoode
It must be way before 2004 which was the second time I was there, the first time was 1996 which also looked very different than the picture.
Anyone that has been there every year and made some conclusions when looking at buildings etc.?
Kind of strange since Google earth added this photo sometime 6-10 months ago.
It was definatly taken during the season (November to April) as shacks are on site. Looking at the River Princess the shacks are still there and the beach has not been erroded too much.
Any other guesses?
If you search for Goa, India you should be taken to the airport.
Steve
when i did google earth on goa it came up blurred and couldnt see any shacks or hotels!!
Bobbsy,
Hotxbun. have you got the freebie google earth or the payed one?
barrie, no mines the free one but I have updated it from the website
Thank you hotxbun, I'll give that a look.
i tried google earth again and it is superb i see the sun village hotel, the marinha dourada hotel and i think i see my taxi driver vijays house. me and the wife cant wait till nov 6th when we get there. the last time i used it was earlier this year and there was not much to see for Goa.
I think the pictures were taken at different times. Down at the Fort end of Sinquerim there are lots of shacks and sunbeds.....move up to the photo join and there's a lot less, including on the Candolim/Calangute border where there aren't any shacks and the sea is ripping across like it does in May.
