We`ve stayed a the Welbeck on the seafront next to the crazy golf a couple of times, not posh or fancy, but a lovely breakfast. I like Weston-Super-Mare, it`s so easy to get around if you`re not super fit as it`s mostly very flat. I wouldn`t make it my main holiday, but it`s great for a few days break.

Hi! We've stayed at the Welllbeck as well. Great location and I agree - lovely breakfast.

hi
there is limited B&B in Uphill
nearest hotel is the 3* Beachlands hotel
in the town of weston The Royal Hotel is best located with seafront and town centre location and recently refurbished too  www.royalhotelweston.com is their site

Oh my, that's where I had my wedding reception, but it was The Berni Royal in 1988!

Lovely hotel, but I was hoping for somewhere closer to Uphill than that hotel or The Welbeck.

Many thanks for your replies :D

Uphill Manor-thats the one! I knew there was a B&B in Uphill in the grand setting of the old manor house-apparently very nice but a bit expensive, its located opposite the donkey field (if you know the area) on the approach from Weston

Hi there

I hope you don't mind me tapping into your posting but I am also looking for a nice hotel or B&B in Weston. I haven't been there for many many years (can't even hardly remember it was so long ago!!) but I am hoping to visit Weston in July.

The recommendations already posted are great but I would really like to find a hotel that has ample parking. Most seaside resorts have very poor parking at B&Bs or hotels as they tend to be rather cramped and obviously land is a premium. I had a bad experience a few years ago at one of those typical B&Bs where your car is crammed onto a small frontage and sometimes the proprietors ask you to leave your car keys with reception so that they can move it to let others in and out. I really don't want to have this situation.

I suspect that the only type of accommodation with ample parking might be a larger hotel etc? Therefore I was wondering if anyone had reasonable knowledge of Weston hotels or B&Bs that might offer more generous parking?

Also, I am getting on a bit now (a spritely 50+ year-old) and if anyone has any good pubs or places where us more mature types won't feel out of place! I do rather like a nice pint of real ale...

I am looking forward to visiting Weston and any comments from the forum's members would be most appreciated.

Many thanks

Hi westonbound!
The previously mentioned Royal Hotel has a huge car park for 100 or more cars I think its pay and display but residents park free
the old colonial also on the seafront has a car park at the back but a noisy bar on the front
real ale pubs include the Britania in the high street near the playhouse or the regency by the college
also the Royal's Feathers bar serves London Pride and Bass and guest ales and has live jazz on Sundays :glynis

Hi MrFrostie

Firstly, many thanks for taking the time to reply to my post. I have checked the Royal Hotel and it does seem ideal in many ways and they even have a picture of their car park on the website so no worries there. I may do a little more checking to see if I can find a slightly cheaper place (as it would mean I'd have more money left for other treats) but I reckon I'll probably be booking at the Royal.

Thanks too for the advice about the pubs - London Pride happens to be one of my favourite tipples so I can see myself wandering into the Feathers bar a few times!!

I am now looking even more forward to paying Weston a visit - I can almost smell the sea air as I type!!

Thanks again & take care

Hi. My dad's 70 in a few weeks and is looking for reasonably priced accomodation in the centre of Weston Super Mare. They intend going for around 3 nights. Has anyone got any recommendations please?

Hi again. I have just found The Cornerhouse hotel on the internet. It seems ideal for my parents. Does anyone know of it ? Any comments please?

HI never heard of it and lived in Weston all my life-a pub has just openned called the Cornerhouse-this might have some letting rooms but it was once a real dive-much improved now though
whats the address?-I will have a look for you

OOps! Sorry mrfrostie. Got the name wrong. It's the cornerways guest house. It's web address is http://www.cornerwaysweston.com
Would appreciate if you could give me some feedback on it. Thanks

 ah yes I walk by The Cornerways most days as I live quite near it.
However can't really comment on the quality of the guesthouse it doesnt actually look more than just a large house but the website is quite impressive!
There is a row of local independent shops in Whitecross road unfortunately the shop directly opposite is of an adult nature... not that I'm condeming either buisness for this, some of the homes nearby tend to be bedsits however all in all its not a bad area
15 minute walk to town centre and 5 minutes from the parks 10minutes from the seafront
not much help but at least I know where you are talking about!

Thanks Mrfrostie. My mum and dad won't mind a 15 minute walk to the centre now and again but since he's 70 are there any pubs a bit closer? Thanks

There is a tiny traditional pub which serves real ale and is only one little bar this is called The Waverley its just round the corner in Severn road and is very friendly despite being a locals pub about 5 minute walk
The Balmoral is 5 minutes the other way on Waliscote road this is quite large with function rooms and traditional bar never been in it but a bit of a reputation for being a bit rough!

in town there is a poor excuse for a Wetherspoons and a sterotype Yates Wine Lodge there are lots of pubs in town mostly aimed at kids and lager louts but one or two buck the trend!
