We are Americans traveling to Egypt for two weeks in late November. My wife is interested in what is appropriate to wear to a Egyptian home visit (she doesn't wear shorts, so that is not a question) , and I want to know about men wearing walking shorts most of the time. any helop will be appreciated.

We live in Berkeley, CA. Are traveling with Grand Circle tours. Itinerary is Cairo, Alexandria, Aswan, Edfu, Kom Ombo, Esna, Karnak, Giza, etc. fourteen days with the first four in Cairo. After that we fly to Aswan, spend a few deays on a ship on the Nile, and back to cairo. Really looking forward to it.
Apparently not, and I don't see where you mean. Is it on this forum page at the top? I'm VERY new here.
Obviously, where you are going to in Egypt may dictate what you will be wearing, temperature wise, but of one thing, you may be certain. Egyptian people will accept you as you are, in the same way as you would accept them. What you are wearing will not be an issue. Your itinerary sounds great, have a wonderful time!
I was in Egypt at the end of last November, beginning of December and whilst it was very warm I wore either long cotton skirts or 3/4 trousers and a tee shirt with short sleeves away from the hotel. My husband wore walking shorts around town.If you click on Egypt discussion forums the Nile section is the 6th and 7th row down.
