I agree with you that it is bad advice, Jay, but even on this forum we get much the same sort of thing occasionally, regarding both topics, despite the vast number of members being completely "au fait" with acceptable practice. It is something that has to be reiterated all the time as many people, i'm sure, are unaware of the harm that feeding the fish does. As for the shoes, well there are a lot of places that they are a good idea when walking along the shallows, to avoid sharp bits of washed up coral, gravel, sea urchins and the odd poisonous fish's spines. How anybody would think to walk on living coral is beyond me, shoes or no shoes!

Perhaps you can put posts on these other forums to inform the particular misguided souls of how they should behave? Keeping on at them is the only way to stop the problem getting even worse, especially in Egypt as the tourism to the Red Sea resorts increases.
