Hooray! It's happened! If you are visiting Slovenija this year you won't need to buy tolars. The country now uses EUROS (starting from Jan 1).
So NO CHANGE when you cross the Austrian or Italian borders ... and they take them unofficially in Northern Croatia too (but at an 'interesting rate!).
The Tolar must have been one of the shortest lasting currencies in history.It only came into existence in 1991 when Slovenia gained its independence from Yugoslavia.
