am i right in saying, if you don't make sure its a hospital working on the same lines as our NHS the E111 is a total waste off time ??
plus, if your in the canaries how do you check its a national health hospital ??
if your hurt you just make your way to the first doctors/hospital.
OR CAN ANYONE ADVISE EVERYONE ELSE HOW YOU CHECK IT'S NH.
you never know when you need one, so it would be good to know.
Hi ray ... the E111 no longer exists, it was replaced by the EHIC in 2005. It operates broadly along the same lines and entitles you to free or reduced cost healthcare in clinics or hospitals operating under the state health service scheme, not the private sector, and so it should never be regarded as an alternative to travel insurance. Conditions vary from country to country, please check out our EHIC topic for more information and advice.
