The hotel complex is west of Naples. It's not in the nicest area but the hotel itself is fine.

It's a pretty long drive from Pompeii and Herculaneum though - It's a good 45 mins to the airport then about 30 mins S of the airport... The traffic on the tangenziale is also fairly heavy since a lot of the military personnel for the NATO base live W of the city.

I'd look for somewhere closer to Pompeii - hackneyed though the comment is, Sorrento is *nicer* though very British (we live quite close to Castel Volturno and go to Sorrento occasionally as a break). However, I love Naples itself (as long as the main station is avoided, it's like many many major stations in its sleaziness) and I'd try and find somewhere to stay in one of the more upmarket quarters of town... Chiaia, or Posillipo or Vomero.
