My partner and I are considering going to Egypt for the first time this year. We usually head the other way - Dom Rep, Cuba, Mexico etc but the prices of some holidays to Egypt make it an attractive option.
What resotr would you recommend? We tend not to stray too far out of the hotel confines -apart from organised excursions (we love boat trips).
We like nice beaches and clean sea and not too much 'hassle'. The transfer time from the airport needs to be fairly short as we're not goosd on coaches.
So. Over to you Egypt experts. What do you recommend for a first time traveller?
Three out of four aint bad!
If you want a hassle free holiday in Egypt I would recommend El Gouna - shop keepers, taxi's, restaurants, bars, are forbidden to hassle!!!!!!!! Set price for taxi's, £1.50 wherever you want to go in El Gouna, tuk tuk's 50p per person, you dont have to haggle a price! This is a resort built on and around lagoons and you have a choice of variety of beaches and will NOT feel confined to your hotel, you can wander in the evenings [cooler then!] without any bother at all.
Hi Paula . If its Sharm your after and you want a relaxed, more hassel free holiday I think it would have to be an A/I. there is plenty of choice and if you decide that is the area you would like to stay in people will be only too willing to offer recommendations. The majority of A/I,s are outside of Naama Bay which is the main town in Sharm, But im afraid Hassle is guauranteed here . If you stay at one of the A/Is there will not not be much at all outside of the hotel but you will probably feel you have everything you need there including the opportunity for excursions, boat trips snorkeling, diving etc and the beautiful red sea. the majority of hotels are of a very good standard. then if your feeling brave enough on the odd night you can nip down to Naama Bay on the hotel courtesy bus or catch a taxi for the 10/15 minute ride.
