hi there...welcome to gods country where we have 3 seasons....early summer high summer and late summer..(now and again it gets a bit chilly and a bit rainy)
everything is open. and the Kaya hotel is in a superb location acropss the road from the cleopatra beach. the weather this week is super there are still tourists on the beach. I'm not that brave because psychologically i know its November.
the euro type discos are still open but have lost the madness of high season. As the sea is still calm you can take a boat trip round the promontary and see the caves etc...takes about an hour.
Market day is Friday in the town centre..there is also a market in saray Mah on fridays where most of the goods are clothes etc. the town market is mostly produce ..go and have a look its great.
eating out is a pleasure here but go for a turkish restaurant. for a great grill try the adana ocakbaşı in the dolmuş station ..have a glass of rakı with your meal. ..they do a great adana kebab...if you like it hot ask for 'aci' (ajee)
for good turkish food also try the mini mutfak its in the centre of town. You can use any kind of money but lira is the best.
Have an evening up on the castle there are lots of restaurants up there with fantastic view.
For turkish live music and dancing go to the Dedi Kodu bar in the harbour..its above Bistro bellman disco..its better after 11.30pm and at the weekend.
if you want a nice day out go to Side Aspendos and Perge...tour companies do trips there most days....and if you just want to see one great place..then it has to be Aspendos.you can read about them with a google search.
im sure you will have a nice time in Alanya.

Hi, now I am really jealous!!! Just as winter is kicking in here!!!

Alanya is still great this time of year. Especially if you are not looking for a crazy week away. You will find a lot less tourists and a lot more locals who start coming down from their summer homes in the mountains.

Shirleyannntr has given you some wonderful ideas of places to visit, and I will definitely second her idea of going to Aspendos, it's a "must see"!!

Another restaurant to visit is the Ottoman House which is just down the road from Dedi Kodu. It specialises in traditional Turkish food, and there fish night on a tuesday is out of this world!! Try the seabass in salt, it's the tastiest dish around!!!

Have fun!!! and let us know what you thought when you come back!!

thank you very much for all your help. shirley anne and crazy you have ben really helpful. thanks alot :)
im goin from glasgow on sunday and wasnt to sure about the hotel as i think thomas cook have just started it this year. i know it was refurbished and i got it so cheap so i cant grumble.I probably wont even eat in the hotel on the half board as i like to eat out.

im gonna print out this whole thread just before i go and take it with me so i can do some of the things reccomended.

im a bit of a designer clothes junkie too and so is my gf so im sure gucci , prada and chanel stuff wil be on sale there.I do like the real thing but if its a good quality fake i couldnt care less.

couple of other things.

the exchange rate is terible here just now so i was wondering if its better to exchange my currency over there?

i got £100 of euros and gonna take the rest in english money. i just dont wana take loads of ytl cos it is quite a poor rate here.

is that a good idea? i was thinking maybe

100 in euros(case sum stuffs priced in euros)

300 sterling(heard they love it and obviously i can also exchange it at a seemingly better rate when needed)

50 ytl (to tide me over for food drinks on first night)

if anyone has sum info o advice on this that would b great.
